Your Job

As a (Junior) Procurement Buyer (w⁠/⁠m⁠/⁠d) at sea chefs, you can expect a varied range of responsibilities in international procurement with a direct focus on the cruise industry.

You will be responsible for the operational supply of “our” cruise ships in the hospitality and food service sectors, and your efforts will help ensure that everything runs smoothly on board.

Your main responsibilities will include, among other things:

  • Operational Purchasing and Logistics: Supplying the cruise ships under your care (river and/or ocean-going) with food & beverage as well as other hotel and non-food products—in close collaboration with team leaders and onboard staff
  • Order and Invoice Management: Monitoring and placing ship orders, reviewing invoices, and managing purchasing controls
  • Quality assurance: Monitoring and ensuring product and service quality
  • Cross-functional projects: Supporting projects and initiatives in procurement and logistics
  • Supporting the further development of procurement processes and systems ( including CrunchTime, Oracle Fusion, and Excel tools)—including interface management, data analysis, and reporting

Your Course & Your Talents

What you bring to the table:

  • Business training or a comparable background—ideally with experience in purchasing, logistics, or the maritime sector
  • Practical experience in F&B purchasing and/or procurement; experience aboard cruise ships is a plus
  • Interest in digital procurement processes, strong understanding of system-supported workflows
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel; initial experience with ERP or inventory management systems is a plus
  • Analytical thinking, business acumen, and a structured, self-directed work style
  • Team spirit, strong communication skills, assertiveness, and a passion for cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to work under pressure, reliability, integrity, and professional demeanor
  • Good written and spoken German and English skills
  • A valid work permit for Germany (e.g., EU citizenship, Blue Card, or other residence permit with work authorization) is required
